K's English teacher sent some homework home for the parents. I had to write an essay so she can get to know her better. This is what I sent in.
In A Million Words Or Less……Tell Me About Your Scholar!
My Scholar is Kaylee. She is a 12-year-old blonde with blue eyes and a smile that will light up any room. She is the oldest of 2 children (4 if you count the dogs). Her brother Aaron is 8 years old and attends Elementary. Kaylee was born in South Dakota and lived there her first 2 years. She loves going back there to visit her grandparents and cousins so we do it as often as possible.
Kaylee is very artistic in that she wants to be a shoe and hand bag designer (big dreams about moving to New York and opening her own store). She is also very musically inclined (She gets that from her grandfather) gold with everything she has touched, the piano, the violin, and the guitar thus far. Her plans are to get to college on a music scholarship.
Kaylee has been in Girl Scouts since she was in Kindergarten and loves that she is able to help others by being a sister to everyone around her. Girl Scouts has given Kaylee so many more opportunities that she would have never had if she had not joined. Last year her and her Troop finished their Bronze Award (which is a huge accomplishment) She enjoys everything that there is about Girl Scouts and has plans to continue it throughout her Middle School and High School years.
Kaylee is a very smart child and is a people pleaser. She always wants to make everyone around her happy and comfortable. Kaylee is a very determined person but at the same time very easy going and can get along with anyone. She tends to be shy, but once she gets to know you, you are friends forever. She is also very respectful; she would never be rude to someone on purpose.
Kaylee has a lot of responsibilities that I am hoping will prepare her for the future. She has her daily chores and this summer was her first to start mowing the lawn. (Something I was more then happy to pass down to her) It was also her first summer to baby-sit her brother all day long. As far as I can tell she did a fabulous job throughout the entire summer. (they are both still alive….that’s got to be a good sign).
One more thing, while attending elementary Kay was diagnosed as being Dyslexic. She attended classes to help her with this and 6th grade was her first year to not be in them any more. She did great with Mrs. McKnight watching over her and I am sure she will be just fine this year also. I think because of this disorder she doesn’t particularly like to read. She will still do it for school but not out of leisure. I would really like to be able to help her find books that she enjoys. If you have any insight in that I would really appreciate your help.
This is Kaylee in a nutshell. I hope this essay helps you to better understand where she is coming from.
