After work today I went out to my car, put my stuff in the passenger seat and cranked the engine.....ok I tried to crank the engine. Nothing happened. I tried again because certainly I did something wrong the first time......nope, nothing happened again. Just fabulous! Car problems are the worst. My boss gave me a jump and it started right away but my wonderful friend Heather followed me home anyway to make sure everything worked out.
While on my way home I get a phone call from Matt......Jackie has had another seizure. Just great! That is 2 in less then a week. My mind starts turning with what I should do.....first I have to make sure I get home.
As soon as I pulled into the driveway I was getting another call from Matt.....Jack had another seizure. That is 2 within 30 minutes. I am starting to stress out.
I came inside and called the vet, the doctor leaves in 45 minutes but if we can get there now they will see him.
Matt and I got Jack into the car and off to the Vet we went. Its not far from us so it only took us a few minutes. The Vet came in a checked him out for us. She couldn't find anything physically wrong with him so we told her the history of the seizures and she explained to us what was going to happen. She wanted to do blood work and test for liver failure and kidney failure. It would also test for all tick diseases (Lyme and whatever the other 2 are that she said)
(BTW as we were all holding down poor Jackie I was petting him between the eyes while he gave me the horrible look of "what are you doing to me?" Once the needle went in for the 2nd time (he jerked and pulled the first one out) he looked at me with orange/brown eyes, closed them and then a tear came to the corner! My poor puppy!)
She will have 95% of the results back tomorrow and will call us with the details. If there is something wrong there then they will treat the disease (or whatever it is) because that could be what is causing the seizures. If there isn't anything wrong with these then we have some other options. We can put him on seizure meds twice a day and see how that goes or we can proceed onto other tests. They can do MRI's and brain scans, they have a neurologist close by that we can take him to. Oh my the decisions that we have to make now!
I'll let you know how tomorrow goes.....I also have to post the plant pictures from last week....haven't done that yet.
