July Book Finished

Miles to Go by Miley Cyrus

I really liked this book. Kaylee told me that she wanted to read it so i went ahead and got it for her but I wanted to read it first to make sure it was appropriate for her (and I also love Miley Cyrus and wanted to learn a little bit more about her)
It has certainly surprised me. Things that I completely didn't know and then other rumors that she addressed....it really was good and after reading it I like her even more.

Garden Progress week 2

Tomato in Kaylees hand (they are grape tomato's)
Here is the start of my cucumbers

week two of the banana peppers.....I think they are almost ready!

I have decided that each week I can post a picture and show you my progress. This is my very first gardening experience and I am doing it in pots (for one to see if I'm any good at it and for two, well you would understand if you met my big dog)

June book finished

Embraced By Darkness by Keri Arthur

another book to the Riley Jensen series.....it was interesting. Will I ever read this series again, I don't think so. It is good enough for me to finish the series though.

Piano Recital

Here is Aarons last piano recital.....he is moving on to bigger and better (well not really) instruments. Him and Kaylee will start guitar lessons next month.

Happy Memorial Day

My goodness look at that laugh.

Playing Chicken

look at those ribs!

We started the day by going to see the Hannah Montana movie. I loved it. It brought tears to my eyes a couple of times. Really good movie. Kenzie and Mindi came with us and they both really liked it too.
Aaron went and seen Aliens vs. Monsters with Kenzies dad Ricky and their 2 sons instead of Hannah Montana....apparently its a little to girly for him (whatever) They all liked their movie too.
Afterwards we came home and the kids invited Kristal and Hannah over to go swimming. They swam the rest of the afternoon. I made them get out a couple of times to hydrate themselves and get something into their bellies but other then that they were in the pool having fun.

Is that an anaconda?

We have another snake in our pond and it might be after us this time rather then the hundreds of tadpoles! Do you see those eyes? Spooky!!!

Here are my Banana Pepperss

Look at these things growing! They just have to get a little bit wider and they will be ready.

Here is my Topsy Turvy

While mom and dad were here I picked up a Topsy Turvy for dad and one for myself. We planted my tomato plant in it and we have been waiting for a tomato to start growing. We didn't have to wait to long because as you can see one is already growing!

bubble time

Here we are just messing around with bubbles and my camera.

Would you get that snake out of my house!

You are never going to believe what happened at my house the other day. I was looking in our pond at all of the little tadpoles that are swimming around (literally hundreds!) when I decided to look at my plant to see if those little guys were eating my leaves....sure enough they are....well I was looking at one particular branch and I thought to myself "my goodness, they are all over that one!" so I turned my head to get another angle and they were still all over it so I leaned a little to the right and "OH" there was a snake head! Totally startled me. I called the kids out to look at it and then I called Papa to see if he would come and get rid of it. Matt is extremely afraid of snakes so I knew that I wasn't going to be able to rely on him to do it. Papa came over and tried to get it but it swam to the bottom of the pound.
Now just to give you a little back ground Matt will go 10 miles out of his way to avoid a snake. He is extremely afraid of them. Me on the other hand, I am not afraid of snakes but I do not like them to startle me and I certainly am not going to touch one. I prefer for them to be in a cage but when I am in nature I am ok with them as long as they stay on there side and I on mine.
Now to continue on with my story. Kaylee and I had to go to GS so we left papa and Aaron to deal with the snake and off we went. I called Matt and told him to stop at Lowes and get some snake remover of some sort and that his dad was taking care of a snake in our pond. (I am sure he gasped at that statement) A few hours later Kaylee and I walked in the door of our house and I yelled "did you get the snake?" to which I got a reply of "no" I was a little nervous after that because I really don't like things out of place. Can you imagine all of the little tadpoles that snake was feasting on.....murdering all of those babies. I would just have to keep an eye out for it. The dogs wanted to go so I cautiously turned the outside light on and looked on the side walk....no snake in sight so i let the dogs go out. They wanted back in after a few minutes so I turned the light on again, looked all around and again there was no snake in sight so I let them in. For some reason Angel was bugging me to go back out so I looked and then opened the door. Out went Angel and in slithered a little brown snake! I screamed. I must have screamed the word snake while I was screaming because the next thing I knew Kaylee was on the coffee table, Aaron (the kid who supposedly likes snakes) left the room and went to my bedroom and Matt just stood by the front door. I wasn't quite sure what to do about this little thing that had slithered into my house but I knew it wasn't going to be able to be ignored. This was one thing I couldn't put a cup over to have Matt get rid of the next day. Something had to happen now. While I screamed Matt said "I have to get a shovel" he went to the garage to get one while I kept my eye on the prize. That little slithery creature. Matt came back in and somehow he managed to get it to slither back outside. He lifted the shovel above his head and started whacking that little guy. He didn't know what hit him. If he hadn't have slithered into my house then I would have felt sorry for him but he passed over that threshold so therefore he had to die. He will no longer be coming into my yard to frighten me or anyone else.

Speedy

Our neighbors found a baby turtle in their backyard and brought it over to our house for it to live in the pond. Speedy stayed for 1 day swimming and eating and then decided that he liked it better elsewhere, I hope he finds the home that he wants.
(BTW, the frogs might have booted him out of the pond by telling him it was their home)

touring downtown

Isn't this funny......I wonder why you can't stand here.
Standing with the window.

Here he is standing on the X

I wasn't quite sure why we toured downtown after Matt went back to work but for some reason we did. The 4 of us piled into my car and started off to downtown. I have never driven downtown and I'm not sure if I will do it again but we did survive. We were lost for a little bit but ended up finding our way once we knew what road we were looking for. It all worked out in the end.

walking around the harbor

Matt and I took mom, dad, and Travis to bass Pro Shop and The Harbor. Bass pro was nice. We looked at all aquarium and walked around the store. Then to the Harbor we went. We walked around for a while then picked a place to eat. We ended up at french restraunt. Wow is all I can say. I very rarely try new things because I almost always end up disappointed. This restaruant I was pleasently surprised and actually ended up loving my lunch. I almost can't wait to go back!

The after party

Here are some pictures from the beautiful day. I am so happy that everyone was able to help us celebrate Aarons special day together.
